thanks to you

Thanks to you, we are able to help provide funding to Franciscans International (FI).  Franciscans International is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that voices concerns of social injustice at the United Nations (UN), with and on behalf of Franciscans, about extreme poverty, peace-building, and the environment.

FI works to influence the world’s decision and policy makers to ensure countries introduce, revise and/or fulfill international and national policies that respect the human dignity of every person. A visit to FI’s website reveals the scope of their current educational efforts through a conference on human rights and transnational corporations, a workshop on the rights of indigenous peoples, and a practical guide to the universal right to water and sanitation.

Inspired by the life of St. Francis, FI unites followers and friends of St. Francis in working towards a more just and peaceful world.

We are privileged to help FI voice concerns about injustices impacting on people who are poor and marginalized. We extend our sincere gratitude to Franciscans International.

Global Village
Missionary Cooperation Plan
This time of year in many dioceses through the world, parishes are asked to welcome a missionary to help connect the local Church with the universal Church.  This activity set up by Vatican guidelines is commonly known as the Missionary Cooperation Plan.  The purpose of this is to have mission religious communities/mission dioceses get an opportunity to personally appeal for prayer and financial support from Catholics as well as to get the opportunity to educate congregations about what is happening in domestic and foreign missions.  Our U.S. Catholic Bishops remind us in their statement, “Called to Global Solidarity: International Challenges for U.S. Parishes,” that action on behalf of the one human family calls us to help overcome the divisions in our world.  “Solidarity binds the rich to the poor.  It makes the free zealous for the rights of the oppressed.”
You Can Change a Life
I am so grateful for the gift of love I have seen so many times in our missionaries and in the people we serve.  I have experienced it over and over in my many years of ministry among adolescents who are emotionally disturbed.  And I have experienced love in the generous hearts of you – our faithful friends and supporters.  People come alive when they are loved!  You know what I mean because you have seen it in your own lives.

Caring for the poor is a costly venture.  Simple commodities, clothing, utilities and the overall cost of living are expensive today.  Your gift to support our Franciscan ministries helps the friars to alleviate some of these costs because of your generosity and thoughtfulness!  Your gift is a true act of love on your part.

Your continued gift or new gift in the amount of $100, $75, $50 or any amount to help us continue our ministry is a blessing to us.  We are always grateful that your gift allows us to touch so many and we are committed to continue our ministries and work among the poor and needy.  We appreciate you!

Be assured that I pray for you each day.   May the Lord give you peace!
