Writing a guest column in the Cincinnati Enquirer, Roger Bacon alumni Gary Favors says the secret ingredient for success in education is “the age-old solution to most successful ventures – consistent discipline.” A teacher in Cincinnati Public Schools, Gary thinks “discipline is an area where public education has waved the white flag of surrender and is currently just going through the motions.” He recalls his own educational experience and says “the foundational tools of solid discipline were the hallmark of Roger Bacon High School. Under the leadership of Roger Bacon’s Father John Bok and Father Jim Bok, we were taught standard operation procedures of how to achieve academic success through self-discipline and respect for others.”
